Connecting to the eduroam and MichiganTechGuest Wireless Networks

To connect to wireless, you will need an SSL- capable browser and a WiFi certified 802.11b/g/n wireless card for your laptop or mobile device.  You will need to configure your device to access one of the following wireless networks:

  • The eduroam Wireless network, which is the choice for Michigan Tech students, staff, and faculty because it allows users to automatically connect at eduroam partner institutions.
  • The MichiganTechGuest Wireless Network, which is used by guests or Michigan Tech students, staff, and faculty who have devices that do not utilize WPA technology.

Connecting to the MichiganTechGuest Wireless Network

Guest wireless is available on all Michigan Tech wireless access points. This service is available to unregistered individuals/devices.  This means that if your device is already associated with your account on the eduroam wireless, the device will be unable to join the guest network.

System Configuration Requirements

  • Be within the MichiganTechGuest SSID wireless coverage area
  • Have a computer or mobile device with an 802.11g/n-compatible wireless card, operating system

Connection Instructions

  1. From the list of available networks on your device, choose the MichiganTechGuest wireless SSID. 
  2. After connecting, proceed to a web browser, and read and accept the Terms of Service Agreement to be connected to the network.
